The Future of Congregations: (a note from Presbytery Executive)
Everyone is encouraged to read the article by Michael Webster in the January 2009 issue of the Observer (pg 32). Note that this article suggests that we put “ministry” before “money” in our discussions.  And then asks two questions. “What do we want to do?” and “How can we accomplish it?” All congregations in Kent Presbytery are encouraged to think about those questions at the Annual Meetings coming up.

United for Peace Pins: Pins are available for $20 or more ($5 for pin and $15 for donation to United for Peace.) These olivewood pins are made in Palestine.  Contact Chuck Scott if you’re interested.

Joint Needs Assessment: With the upcoming change in Pastoral Relations on our Charge, we need a Joint Needs Assessment Committee to consider and recommend an appropriate direction for the ministry requirements on the Charge.  This direction will likely be influenced by the results of the ongoing discussions on the future of our churches and the joint Congregation meetings.  We need two representatives from each congregation for this Committee. If you’re interested, please contact your Clerk of Session.

New Link for Mission and Service: The United Church is discontinuing all UCC online platforms because of cost. However Julie Kinkaid has created a blog called MaSt that has links to a free MaSt website that will house the UC documents: http://missionandservice.blogspot.com   You can contact Julie with thoughts and comments at jkinkaid@united-church.ca.
